Brooklyn's Greenwood Cemetery has some living residents: monk parrots (aka monk parakeets, Quaker parrots). While they are usually found in the subtropics, these parrots have made their home among the arches and gargoyles of the cemetery's gate.
Apparently, the colony originated after black market parrots were released a few decades ago. Groundskeepers first attempted to remove the parrots, but have since realized that they keep pigeons away.
