been thinking a lot recently about light. pathways in forests, creating connections between villages. light is the known world, the "self". tolstoy wrote about the lit pathways through the darkness, darkness which held wolves and bears and other dangers.
what does this mean on a globalized scale. there's something there. television becomes the all-consuming light source (imagine a lone man sitting in a darkened apartment, the blue tv screen light flicker). the light becomes the unknown "dark energy." we have to find those points of interruption - the accident in the system.
